National radio host Buck Sexton weighed-in on Sen. Al Franken’s decision to resign from the US Senate on Thursday; saying the liberal legislator’s decision to step down sets the stage for the Democrat Party to run a woman in 2020 and frame the GOP as the party of predators.
“He’s bringing Moore and Trump into this, and this is significant,” said Buck. “Franken didn’t want to step down, he thought he’d be able to run-out the clock on this thing and that it would be okay, that’s why he stuck around.”
“He stuck around thinking that he apologized, he would move forward, and keep on working for the people of Minnesota. Then it was too much, there were eight accusers. What really happened is that the Democrats, dozens of his fellow Senators, they all said he had to step down,” he added.
“Here’s what I see happening… The Democrat Party is looking for some way to invigorate the base and to come up with a narrative,” Sexton said. “Why does the Democratic Party exist, just opposition to Trump? That can work, that could be enough.”
“They need a reason to exist. What is that reason? The war on women. That’s right, this becomes the narrative for the Democrat Party to turn out voters in the mid-term, it becomes the narrative to push for a female presidential candidate,” he added. “I guarantee you’ll have a whole crew of female democrats that will be vying for the nomination in 2020.”
