Speaking on ‘America Now’ Friday night, host Buck Sexton called-out Republican lawmakers for their lack of clarity on what they hope to achieve on immigration law; adding some legislators are happy to take a hardline while fundraising but sing a different tune inside the beltway.
“I think this is where you see who the fakers are, who the cowards are in the Republican party. When it comes time for fundraising and for re-election they’re all about border security,” said Buck.
“But then when it’s time to see what the New York Times editorial page writes about them and they’re in the DC-New York corridor… Then they say that amnesty is probably the way to go. The only way to stop it is to punish those, at the ballot box, who break their promises to voters,” he added.
“We need to establish as much as possible that for any immigration change to happen, for any immigration policies to be meaningfully altered we need to know what we’re dealing with, how many people we’re dealing with, and what we’re really expected to do and what we think the government will be able to do in response to this massive problem,” Sexton said.
“‘Breaking up families’ is just emotional manipulation. If the same people who said that about illegal immigrants said that about all non-violent crime that sends people to prison, I’d have much more respect for their point of view,” he added.
