Speaking on ‘America Now’ Wednesday, host Buck Sexton lashed-out at liberal activists who mocked President Trump’s call for “extreme vetting” of refugees, but want the “extreme vetting” of American citizens who exercise their Second Amendment rights.
“The left has been for a long time trying to get as much emotional mileage as possible off of putting either individuals themselves or those who are the family members of those who are the subject of gun violence, and they put them up to make policy arguments,” said Buck.
“We’re supposed to never respond to that. Someone lost a relative, you’re not allowed to say what they’re saying is wrong because that would be mean,” he added.
“Think about what’s being suggested here. If an individual has no criminal history, never been committed to a mental institution… What are you going to do beyond that to take away someone’s rights? That’s already there in the law,” Sexton said.
“It’s so interesting to me; they make so much fun of Trump for extreme vetting. Extreme vetting of people who are not US citizens, who have no right to come to this country despite what some judges say. Extreme vetting became a punch line on the left,” said Buck.
“Meanwhile, after an incident of gun violence like this, the left is calling for exactly that, extreme vetting, without knowing what that vetting would be and without taking into account there’s already a lot of vetting in process,” he added. “The hypocrisy here, the policy hypocrisy that is on display is just tiresome.”
