Speaking on ‘America Now’ Wednesday night, host Buck Sexton weighed-in on the unfolding controversy surrounding the Texas church massacre that occurred over the weekend; saying the government is rightfully investigating how Devin Kelley fell through the cracks and purchased his weapons.
“What can be done? What should we do? What would be a reasonable policy response to the vile massacre of innocents in Sutherland Springs?” asked Buck.
“It is completely understandable, and I think fair, to look at how it was that the Air Force was incapable, or just made a mistake, what was the problem? Where was the breakdown in communication that prevented the Air Force from telling the FBI that Devin Kelley was convicted of domestic violence and also attacked an infant?” he added. “That information should have obviously been passed along. The fact he was committed to a psychiatric facility should have been passed along.”
“There was a breakdown here,” said Buck, praising the Secretary of Defense for his pledge to get to the bottom of the communication breakdown. “We have action. The government is doing something, and it is within a rational and reasonable framework. They’re looking at what went wrong and are trying to fix it.”
“Action for its own sake is not what you do at a policy issue. Especially on complicated issues like gun rights, gun control, mass shootings, public violence, all of these things,” he added.
