Within hours of a thoroughly embarrassing brow-beating by Presidential advisor Stephen Miller, CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta took a bizarre victory-lap on the cable news network, saying the Trump administration was “obsessed” with banning minorities and Miller “couldn’t take the heat.”
“I think what you saw unfold in the briefing room is that [Stephen Miller] really just couldn’t take that kind of heat and exploded before our eyes,” said Acosta.
“I think the White House has an unhealthy fixation on what I call the three m’s: the Muslims, the Mexicans and the media. Their politics tend to be centered around bashing one of those three groups, and we see it time and time again,” he added. “Today on immigration, what the White House is essentially saying with a wink and a dog whistle to these battle states they won is ‘immigration is taking your jobs.’”
The heated exchange between Acosta and Miller rapidly spun out of control, with the Presidential adviser slamming the CNN reporter for accusing the Trump administration of only favoring immigrants from the UK and Australia.
“You couldn’t possibly believe that, do you?” Miller asked.
The six-minute long back-and-forth made national headlines within minutes. Politico described the event as “bizarre” and “combative.”
They left out a slightly more accurate description of the fiery exchange:
Politico seems to confuse "bizarre" with "ass kicking" https://t.co/HwY59QW58o
