Per an order from Obama-era Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, the Army has been ordered to undergo transgender sensitivity training in time for a July 1st lifting of the ban on transgender troops.
From the Daily Caller:
The 50-minute training session is titled Transgender Training. All troops will have to undergo the training.
“The training module specifically outlines key roles and responsibilities of commanders, transgender soldiers, military medical providers and administrative management organizations,” Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Jennifer Johnson told USA Today. “This training is mandatory for all uniformed members, as well as Department of the Army civilians.”
The Army and Marines have requested a delay out of concerns that individuals undergoing sex change operations might be compromised in the field of battle:
Obama administration policies still in play from June 2016 allow transgenders already in the military to serve, but Secretary of Defense James Mattis has yet to make a decision on the status of new transgender recruits, in effect ignoring a lot of advocacy from pro-LGBT groups. These groups fear the deadline for acceptance could be pushed back indefinitely. Several retired generals have also asked Mattis not to delay in accepting transgender recruits.
USA Today has more on those requests for delay:
Their requests for delays followed a May 31 memo from Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work to the services calling for an update on their plans accepting transgender troops. Work instructed leaders of the armed services that Pentagon leadership didn’t intend to reconsider the Obama administration-era policies unless they could “cause readiness problems that could lessen our ability to fight, survive and win on the battlefield.”
In May 16th, conservatives in government signed a memo asking the defense secretary to rethink Carter’s move.
Regardless how you might feel about transgender advocacy, this is right up there with transgender kids winning races they have no business running for sheer lunacy.
Mad Dog, what say you?
