National radio host Buck Sexton weighed-in on the mainstream media’s dire predictions of an all-out trade war with China last week; saying President Trump’s using tariffs to negotiate a better deal with Beijing.

“I think this is a negotiation tactic. We’ve seen this time and time again. We saw it with North Korea. Kim Jong Un talks tough, Trump talks tough back. Now they’re going to sit down and chat and see what’s going on,” said Buck.

“With the Mexican government, Trump has been engaged in a series of advances and pullbacks in order to try and get more for himself in a negotiation,” he added. “Why would it be any different dealing with China and tariffs.”

“It’s not in our interest to see the Chinese economy disintegrate,” Sexton said. “We have similar interests overall, but we have to take some steps in this process. The trade war that everyone is worried about is overblown.”
