WATCH: Trump Bids New Suit on Cuba, Rolling Back Obama’s Reforms
Posted On 16 Jun 2017 /
Today, speaking before Cuban expatriates and dignitaries, President Trump announced a rollback of the reforms President Obama pursued towards Cuba, including tightening travel restrictions and stopping the flow of money to Cuba’s military.
Opening his speech by calling forth two dissidents who’d served 17 and 20 years in prison under the Castro regime, Trump derided Obama’s “bad deal” and demanded Cuba reform before it attempts another negotiation.
“The exiles and dissidents here today have witnessed communism destroy a nation, just as communism has destroyed every single nation where it has ever been tried,” said the President. “But we will not be silent in the face of communist oppression any longer.”
