Mayor Lori Lightfoot wants the people of Chicago to know that the coronavirus is raging through the city and she needs to order new restrictions in order to protect residents, but right after she celebrates Joe Biden’s apparent presidential victory with thousands of other people not “socially distancing.”
Lightfoot tried to defend her actions by saying, “There are times when we actually do need to have relief and come together, and I felt like that was one of those times. That crowd was gathered whether I was there or not.”
Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show,” that Lightfoot—who was out celebrating without a mask and surrounded by people shouting, but, “You know, no big deal.”
“This [the coronavirus] has been politicized beyond recognition,” Sexton said. “I mean, this is now a straight up political issue.”
He said Democrats are quick to call out President Trump and his supporters for attending rallies where masks are provided, and yet they find it appropriate to attend events like a “Joe Biden victory dance.” Sexton has called out Democrat leaders for their hypocrisy throughout the pandemic, from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s salon visit to politicians who attended Rep. John Lewis‘ funeral in Georgia and were able to disregard self-quarantine orders.
He called out Lightfoot for also saying, “While this is tough, of course this whole year has been tough, we must tell you, you must cancel the normal Thanksgiving plans.” The city announced a 30-day stay-at-home order that went into effect on Monday.
“Now that doesn’t count Joe Biden’s victories. Those are important….your Thanksgiving with your family is not,” he said. “That’s what Lightfoot wants you to know.”
Sexton also called into question the effectiveness of wearing masks in order to prevent the spread of the virus. He pointed to the number of new infections in the city—during mask mandates—and questioned how these areas would be doing without face coverings. He said public officials don’t even seem interested in why the number of cases are continuing to explode despite the widespread use of face masks and social distancing.
“Nobody wants to see these two things in conflict though, because a whole lot of people will look like a bunch of dumb asses if we actually dig into what’s happening here,” Seton said.
