Abraham Lincoln was famous for designing his Cabinet as a ‘Team of Rivals,’ while Joe Biden seems set on filling his Cabinet with a diverse team in appearance, but who march in complete lockstep with our country’s evloving woke culture.
Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show,” said Wednesday that the new wave of political elites have no allegiance to the U.S.—at least in the traditional sense.
“They have something better,” he said. “They’re working for something better.”
He continued, “There are those of us who take tremendous pride in being American, and then there are those of us who take pride in believing we are better than America. And those are called liberals, those are leftists, that’s what they are.”
Sexton said they think they’re achieving some kind of moral high ground when they constantly engage in the “most toxic identity politics, racial politics, gender politics…and the reaon they do this is because they’ve actually adopted a philosophy that America is actually bad…that there’s a moral rot at the center of this country.”
The trend is not completely new but it seems to have been perfected by the movement ever since Hillary Clinton said President Trump’s supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables.” That means there is no place in a fair society for them and for the U.S. to reach its full potential—a world were a McKinsey consultant-turned-mayor Mayor Pete Buttigieg can be U.S. Transportation Secretary.
Sexton pointed to a recent essay by Matthew Crawford, a fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia, that read, “Instead of feeling bound up in a shared fate with one’s countrymen, one develops an alternate solidarity that is placeless.”
Crawford distills his argument, “Very simply: if the nation is fundamentally racist, sexist and homophobic, I owe it nothing.”
Sexton said that he believes this approach to politics “defines our current moment for the Democrat Party and for the left, the idea of a common good.”
He said the loudest voices are the ones who are completely removed from the communities that they claim to be defending.
“They’ve never actually been in a high-crime, majority-minorty neighborhood for more than a couple of hours, maybe driving through it,” Sexton said. “But they want to lecture you about BLM from their million-dollar house in an all-white suburb.”
