“The Next Revolution” host Steve Hilton said Sunday that Dr. Anthony Fauci together with NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins have “lied repeatedly about the origins of COVID-19.”
Both Fauci and Collins have repeatedly denied any funding from NIH in gain of function projects in Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
“Let me be very clear. We never approved any grant that would have supported gain of function research on dangerous coronaviruses to see if they could be more transmissible or lethal for individuals in the human species. That was not something that we would have done,” said Collins back in May.
On Sunday the Fox News host played a tape from a gain of function conference in 2012 where Fauci explains the role of NIH in these type of projects.
“If you look at basic research as we’ve approached it, integral to that study has always been the issue of gain of function research,” Fauci is heard saying in the tape. “There are a few ways to look at gain of function research. There’s the naturally occurring mutations which naturally give gain of function, and investigators study these effects on the phenotypes of interest. Does this mutation make something more transmissible, more pathogenic, or adapt to host better? Or what historically investigators have done is to actually create gain of function by making mutations, passage adaptation or other new genetic techniques such as reverse genetics and genetic reassortment.”
Yet when asked by Sen. Rand Paul at a recent Senate hearing Fauci denied categorically that NIH funded any gain of function project in Wuhan.
“The NIH and NIAID categorically has not funded a gain of function research to be conducted in the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” said Fauci.
Steve Hilton’s investigation has now shown that both Fauci and his boss Collins “lied and lied and lied again over their potential role in the origin of the pandemic.”
