Speaking on ‘America Now’ Tuesday, host Buck Sexton threw cold-water on the notion that the Republican controlled Congress would fight Democrats over the debt-ceiling; saying the GOP will “cave” as liberal lawmakers accuse them of “stealing food from the mouths of babies.”
“Here’s an even more confident prediction I can make for all of you right now. The debt-ceiling which is up for renewal… This is the most worthless waste-of-time political discussion we can have at this time, because we all know […] the GOP congress will cave and Democrats will demagogue the issue,” said Buck.
“They’re going to say, ‘What about student loans? Food for children in schools? Old people that need medical care?’ None of that would be defunded, yet they would say that it is. They would say that Republican are stealing food from the mouths of babies,” he added.
“That’s going to be the story. You think that this Congress that couldn’t even figure out an Obamacare adjustment, you think they’re going to want to go to town and get serious about the debt ceiling? No way, no way,” Sexton said.
“I don’t think the GOP congress is going to do anything on the debt-ceiling other than raise it,” he added. “They’re talking about DACA, they’re talking about concessions that they would want to extract from Democrats, but we have been to this dance.”
“This will not change. This will not be different. No way shape or form do I see this in anyway different than in the past,” said Buck.
