Speaking with Fox News’ Stuart Varney, Buck Sexton doused cold-water on the idea that economic pressure and Chinese cooperation will be enough to force North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to abandon his nuclear weapons, saying it’s “not going to happen anytime soon.”
“The big problem is that economic pressure alone is not enough to bring the Kim regime in line with international norms and without being a threat to us. We’re trying to leverage China, that alone won’t be enough,” said Buck.
“Nuclear weapons are a central goal, not just to have them but to have them that they can fire at us here in the US, of the Kim dynasty,” he added. “The Kim dynasty only exists for two reasons, Kim and his predecessors. One is to deal with outside invaders… and to reunify the Korean peninsula.”
“We’re going to get nukes out of their hands? Denuclearize the peninsula? Not going to happen anytime soon. You’d have to have a different government, quite honestly a different country,” Sexton said.
